Ortho K is a revolutionary non-surgical procedure that eliminates the need for glasses or daytime contact lenses for individuals with short-sightedness.
Vision improves by using hard contact lenses that gently reshape your cornea while you sleep. This changes how light is focused on the retina at the back of your eyes. The specially designed therapeutic contact lenses are used at bedtime and are a safe and effective treatment that can correct short-sightedness (including high prescriptions).
Your optometrist will examine the retina and the health of the outside of the eye. An instrument called a Topographer is used to map the shape of the cornea. All the information is then used to design the retainer lenses that will be used to correct the vision.
At Kofsky Optometry we will instruct you in how to insert, remove, and take care of your vision retainers. The fit of your retainers will be evaluated, and you will be scheduled to be seen after your first night of wear. We will re-evaluate your fit and newly corrected vision and another mapping of your cornea will be performed.
