Specialised Care

Why all children need a Comprehensive Eye Exam

Since 80% of learning happens through eyesight, early childhood is a crucial period for visual development. Regular eye exams for children are vital to detect potential vision problems that may affect school performance and the building of self-esteem.

Unfortunately, according to Optometry Australia 1 in 5 school children have an undetected vision problem. Part of the problem is that the government sponsored vision screening program offered to all pre-schoolers is considered a thorough eye examination. This is not the case. The program is vision screening only, designed to spot major visual issues such as squints and lazy eye. It is not designed to pick up other eye weaknesses which can lead to vision problems, these can only be detected through a thorough eye examination.

Our comprehensive eye exam involves specialised tests, techniques and equipment to assess a wide range of visual skills, ensuring that your child’s vision is on track for a successful academic journey and a bright future.

Common Child Eye Conditions

Digital Eye Strain and Myopia Control

In today’s digital age, children are spending more time than ever on screens, leading to concerns such as digital eye strain. We are experienced in addressing this issue by providing tailored advice on screen time limits, proper posture, and the importance of regular breaks.

Additionally, myopia (near-sightedness) is a prevalent concern among children. Our myopia control program is designed to slow down the progression of myopia, reducing the risk of higher prescriptions and related eye health issues later in life.

Good Posture

Teach your child to maintain a correct posture while reading or using devices. This helps prevent neck, back, and eye strain.
