Cataracts

If you’re over 65, you may have signs of cataracts. This is an age related condition which can cause blindness if untreated. Cataracts are cloudy areas that form in the lens of the eye which is normally clear. The cloudiness interferes with light entering the eye, causing poor vision.

Most cataracts are a result of ageing and long-term exposure to ultraviolet light. Some are caused by injury and certain diseases.

Symptoms are gradual and painless, and include hazy vision, increased sensitivity to glare, and double vision. Early detection is essential.

We will detect cataracts during a standard eye test.

If we detect cataracts, we’ll determine how advanced the condition is. We will offer special tints or filters for your glasses which can improve vision, plus UV protection to help slow development.

If your condition is more advanced, we’ll refer you to an eye specialist.

If you or your family are experiencing these symptoms, book an eye test today.
